The Bahamas

The Bahamas is an archipelago country located in the Atlantic Ocean, consisting of more than 700 islands and islets. It is situated to the southeast of the United States, northeast of Cuba, and north of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The capital city of the Bahamas is Nassau, located on the island of New Providence.

The Bahamas has a rich history and culture influenced by its indigenous people, European colonization, and African heritage. The islands were inhabited by the Lucayan people before the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492. The islands later became a British colony until gaining independence in 1973, becoming a Commonwealth realm with Queen Elizabeth II as the monarch.

English is the official language, and the Bahamian dollar (BSD) is the national currency.
